City of Charleston Updates
Limelight Charleston (Hotel + Residences) Announced
The first East Coast Limelight Hotel has been confirmed for Charleston—set to open in 2028 at King & Society Streets. The mixed-use project will feature a boutique 50-room hotel, 16 private residences, rooftop pool, restaurant, bar, meeting spaces, parking garage, and a signature “living room” designed to keep locals connected.
Charleston County Housing Trust Fund Opens Loan Applications
Applications have officially opened for round two of the “Housing Our Future” Trust Fund, backed by $8.35M in accommodations tax revenue. The revolving loan program supports acquisition, construction, rehab, and planning for affordable home and rental development across the county.
Four Seasons Charleston Announced
Charleston's hospitality scene welcomes luxury with the announcement of a Four Seasons Hotel & Residences on Meeting Street. The development includes 139 hotel rooms, 36 luxury residences (starting at $5M each), a spa, fitness center, and event spaces, slated to open in 2028.
Town of Mount Pleasant Updates
Historic District Development Moratorium Through 2026
On July 11, Mount Pleasant enacted a development moratorium in county historic districts (Ten Mile, Phillips, Hamlin Beach) to prevent annexation-based loopholes. The pause provides time to align county and town growth plans through July 23, 2026.
Shem Creek Dock Renovation in Final Stages
A $3.5 million renovation to Mount Pleasant's iconic Shem Creek docks is in its closeout phase, wrapping up improvements like dry fire hydrant installation, electrical upgrades, and enhanced safety features.
Pitt Street Bridge Micromobility Enhancements Completed
On July 1, the Pitt Street Bridge celebrated its ribbon-cutting after improved safety upgrades—new pavement, signage, pedestrian lighting, bike-friendly features, and erosion controls designed to protect the Old Village’s character.

Charleston County Summer Youth Internships
Through July 24, eligible residents aged 16–21 can earn $15/hour working in various county departments—offering valuable workplace skills and civic exposure.
